The Red Wing Shoes 8833 Moc Toe is made from Hawthorne Abilene leather, which is manufactured in the Red Wing tannery in Minnesota. It is often referred to as ‘rough out’, as it is the rough side of the leather hide. 'Abilene' is one of the iconic leathers Red Wing uses for their shoes. Using the leather inside out creates many benefits as it is water repellent, it's known for its breathability, and does not require any maintenance. On top of that, the leather will not dry out and if kept inside it can remain supple for 100 years
